Preble County (/ ˈ p r ɛ b əl / PREH-bəl [3]) is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 40,999, [4] down 3.0% from the 2010 census population of 42,270. [5] Its county seat is Eaton. [6] The county was formed on February 15, 1808, from portions of Butler and Montgomery Counties.
Fort St. Clair was a fort built in March 1792 [1] during the Northwest Indian War near the modern city of Eaton, Preble County, Ohio. The site of the fort was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. [2]
The Roberts Covered Bridge is a Burr Truss covered bridge in Preble County, Ohio near Eaton. It was built in 1829, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. [ 1 ]

The Christman Covered Bridge is a historic covered bridge that carries Eaton-New Hope Road over Seven Mile Creek in Washington Township, Preble County, Ohio, United States, northwest of the city of Eaton. It was built in 1895 by Everett S. Sherman, who built at least 20 covered bridges in Preble County.
New Lexington was laid out and platted in 1805, making it the oldest existing settlement in Preble County. [2] The community was named after Lexington, Kentucky , the native home of a first settler, James Irwin Nisbet (1777–1830), who executed the original survey.
