Paul Atreides (/ ə ˈ t r eɪ ɪ d iː z /; [2] later known as Paul Muad'Dib, and later still as The Preacher) is a fictional character in the Dune universe created by Frank Herbert.He is a main character in the first two novels in the series, Dune (1965) and Dune Messiah (1969), and returns in Children of Dune (1976).
Originally serialized in Analog Science Fiction and Fact in 1976, it was the last Dune novel to be serialized before book publication. At the end of Dune Messiah , Paul Atreides walks into the desert, a blind man, leaving his twin children Leto II and Ghanima in the care of the Fremen , while his sister Alia rules the universe as regent.
Mark Alexander Newman (born 27 November 1974) is a Scottish actor best known for portraying Paul Atreides in the Sci Fi Channel's 2000 miniseries adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune, Adam Smasher in Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and played the main character of Still Wakes the Deep, Cameron "Caz" McLeary.
Leto Atreides II The Elder is the son of Paul and Chani, being born in the timeskip between books. He was murdered as a child by the Beast Rabban during a Sardaukar attack on the sietch he was hidden in.
