Oregon (/ ˈ ɒr ɪ ɡ ən,-ɡ ɒ n / ⓘ ORR-ih-ghən, -gon) [7] [8] is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is a part of the Western U.S., with the Columbia River delineating much of Oregon's northern boundary with Washington, while the Snake River delineates much of its eastern boundary with Idaho.
It is located at the southern end of the Willamette Valley, near the confluence of the McKenzie and Willamette rivers, about 50 miles (80 km) east of the Oregon Coast. [ 11 ] The second-most populous city in Oregon, Eugene had a population of 176,654 as of the 2020 United States census [ 12 ] and it covers city area of 44.21 sq mi (114.5 km 2 ).
