Cummingsburg, or historically Cumingsburg, is a ward in Georgetown, Guyana. [2] It began as 500-acre plantation, La Bourgade about 1759. When Thomas Cumming, a Scotsman, bought the property, he developed a town plan with residential and commercial lots and streets. The town layout was modified after a fire that burnt much of the town in 1864.
In 1992, Dr. Cheddi Jagan, after being elected president, moved into State House and since then it has served as the official residence of the President of Guyana. This building is a collection of additions, but there are a few distinctive characteristics such as the Georgian six-paned windows and the Demerara windows .
Carmichael Street was named after General Hugh Lyle Carmichael who served as governor from 1812 to 1813. He died in March 1813 and was buried in the Officers' Cemetery, Eve Leary. [citation needed] Water Street was so called because it ran along the riverside and formed the original river dam.
The school's previous campus is located at 9-10 Delhi Street, Prashad Nagar, Georgetown, [3] and housed in three buildings, one of which is undergoing extensive renovation. The small campus includes classrooms a science lab, a computer lab, a school library, art and music rooms, physical education and an assembly/lunch area.

The St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, a Catholic non-profit hospital, [7] and the headquarters of the Guyana Police Force are located in Kingston. [ 8 ] The Kingston West area has the second highest concentration of Government Offices after Brickdam, Stabroek.
The park is separated from the gardens by Middle Street. The park is bound by Carmichael Street to the west, across from which is the State House (president's residence). The other public garden in Georgetown is the larger Botanical Gardens farther from city centre. There is also the modern National Park in the north of the city.
In 1907, Bishop E. A. Parry moved the school to "Woodside House" (now known as "Transport House") on Main Street, and it became known as "Woodside House School". In 1921 the school moved to its present location at Carmichael and Murray (now known as Quamina) streets.
