India has been invested in the Arctic region for years and to secure its share of the pie in terms of research and resources, the Indian government has now unveiled a draft Arctic policy.
The U.S. Arctic Policy Group is a federal interagency working group comprising those agencies with programs and/or involvement in research and monitoring, land and natural resources management, environmental protection, human health, transportation and policy making in the Arctic.
Himadri is India's first permanent Arctic research station [1] located at Spitsbergen, Svalbard, Norway. It is located at the International Arctic Research base, Ny-Ålesund. It was inaugurated on the 1st of July, 2008 by the Minister of Earth Sciences. [2] It was set up during India's second Arctic expedition in June 2008. [3]
The Danish Foreign- and Security Policy strategy extends to Arctic matters, and there was a small focus on the Arctic in Government report from 2022 [70] and 2023. [ 71 ] The Danish Government published a separate Arctic strategy for all three countries within the Danish Kingdom that outlines the common grounds for all parts of the Realm. [ 72 ]
Principal Arctic states’ engagement in the Arctic has been on the rise since the turn of the 21st century. This led to the publication of a multitude of reports and policy strategies aimed at both defending the principal state’s interests in the region and seeking collaboration from other nations to address the growing environmental threat.

The Bering Strait has become vulnerable to climatic changes, trans Arctic shipping, and resource exploitation. The Obama administration's Executive Order 13754 of December 9, 2016 [1] defines a Northern Bering Sea Climate Resilience Area that gives protection to the indigenous coastal communities that rely on the strait for subsistence hunting, and the surrounding marine ecosystem's vitality.
