It lies between the latitudes 50.512°N and 51.081°N and the longitudes 1.682°W and 2.958°W, and occupies an area of 2,653 km 2 (1,024 sq mi). It spans 90 kilometres (56 mi) from east to west and 63 kilometres (39 mi) from north to south.

The parish was created on 1 April 1932, mostly from the part of the ancient parish of Ringwood which lay west of the River Avon, but also gaining a smaller part from the parish of Hurn (which had been created in 1894 from part of Christchurch). [2]
Kinson is a former village which has been absorbed by the town of Bournemouth, in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole district, in the ceremonial county of Dorset, England. The area became part of Bournemouth on 1 April 1931. [2] There were two electoral wards containing the name Kinson (North & South).
