In 1907, a bridge was built across the South Fork of Beargrass Creek which allowed French settlers north of the creek, in an area called Paristown, to attend the one Catholic church in the area. The German-Paristown Neighborhood Association was founded in 1973, making it one of Louisville's first neighborhood associations.
Germantown is a home rule-class city in Bracken and Mason counties in the U.S. state of Kentucky.The population was 146 at the 2020 census. A gothic revival church at Oak and S. Shelby Streets constructed around 1886 is another architectural and historical landmark. Most of the residential homes in Shelby Park were constructed around 1900 to 1910 and are shotgun-style cottages and camelbacks, with some two-story brick federal-style buildings in the mix, too.
A new 25-acre (10 ha) Southwest Campus was dedicated in 2006 and now serves over 350 students in grades preschool - 8th. In 2010 Christian Academy of Louisville High School was recognized as one of only 304 public or private schools nationwide—and the only high school in Kentucky—to receive the prestigious National Blue Ribbon School award.
