The Old Police Station is a Grade II listed building in Bath, Somerset, England. Completed in 1865, to a design by Charles Edward Davis, it stands in Orange Grove, adjacent (to the southwest) to Bath's Empire Hotel, although it pre-dates that building by around fifty years. The police station opened on 19 January 1866. [1]
The Bath City Police was a police force responsible for policing the County Borough of Bath in Somerset, England. It existed between 1836 and 1967. [1] The Bath City Police, as an organization, was formed as a result of Municipal Corporations Act 1835, though it did not begin commencing duties until 15 February 1836. [2]
As a result of the Act the following borough police forces were created within the current Avon and Somerset Police area: Bath City Police (1836), Bristol Constabulary (1836), Bridgwater Borough Police (1836), Wells City Police (1836), Glastonbury Borough Police, Chard Borough Police (1839), and Yeovil Borough Police (1854).
