Corsicana is a city in and the county seat of Navarro County, Texas, United States. It is located on Interstate 45 , 50 miles southeast of Dallas . Its population was 25,109 at the 2020 census .
Navarro County (/ n ə ˈ v ær oʊ / nə-VARR-oh) [1] is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, the population was 52,624. [2] Its county seat is Corsicana. [3] The county is named for José Antonio Navarro, a Tejano leader in the Texas Revolution who signed the Texas Declaration of Independence.
As of 2023, the largest of these is the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX-OK CSA, encompassing the area around the twin cities of Dallas and Fort Worth in the northern part of the state. Owing to its large area and population - the second-highest amongst the 50 states in both respects [ 2 ] [ 3 ] - Texas contains the most statistical areas of any state.
In the mid-1930s, Retreat had a store, a gin, a cemetery, and a number of houses. After World War II, the store closed, but the population in recent years has increased because of the community's proximity to Corsicana. In the mid-1960s, the estimated population was 100; by 1990, it had grown to 334. Most of the residents worked in Corsicana.
