Husqvarna was founded near the town of Huskvarna in Sweden in 1689. [3] The company started out as a maker of muskets, and the Husqvarna logo still depicts a gun sight viewed from the end of the barrel. [3] [4] As with many motorcycle manufacturers, Husqvarna first began producing bicycles in the late 19th century.
Asken came in financial difficulties and parts of Jonsereds AB were shut down and others sold. In 1978 it was sold to Electrolux and production of chainsaws was later moved to Husqvarna. Husqvarna still maintains an R&D unit in Jonsered. The tarpaulin unit was also acquired by Electrolux but later sold.
