Oct 28, 2019. #1. When I open Smart Switch, it says an update to the app is available. It says downloading, but the download never starts. I have a good wifi connection and I also tried using data. I uninstalled the app and downloaded the latest version in the play store. Upon opening, it still said an update was available.
As for moving SmartSwitch folders. You can do two things: 1. Just manually cut and move them somewhere, like an external hard drive. This would work, however to access them for restore you have to cut and move them back to the default directory. 2. Go to SmartSwitch>More>Preferences>Backup folder location>change.

Open Samsung Kies. Go to Tools. Click on Firmware Upgrade and Initialization. Type in the Device Name / Model Number (ALL CAPS) and hit OK. Type in the serial number of the device. (ALL CAPS) You will then get a popup that is a warning about what is about to happen. Basically its about to wipe the device and return it to stock.

For me, device to device took too long. Pc transfer didn't work. Maybe because I'm on Windows 10 64bit. What I ended up doing was making a backup via smart switch to my microsd card then put in the microsd card to my s7e and restoring with smart switch. Worked flawlessly. I now have all my contacts, recent calls, and sms from my s5 on my s7e.
