City Profile. The City of Geneva, 9.75 square miles, was incorporated in 1835 and is the county seat for Kane County. Part of the Tri-Cities, Geneva is located 40 miles west of Chicago on the Fox River Valley. The City’s downtown is a regional destination, visited for its eclectic shops and restaurants in historic storefronts.
