Fort Leonard Wood is a U.S. Army training installation located in the Missouri Ozarks.The main gate is located on the southern boundary of the city of St. Robert.The post was created in December 1940 and named in honor of General Leonard Wood (former Chief of Staff) in January 1941.

After World War II the Battalion was inactivated on 25 October 1945 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. It was reactivated on 17 August 1950 at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina again as an organic element of the 8th Infantry Division. The Battalion moved with the 8th Infantry Division to Nuremberg, Germany in October 1956.
Fort Leonard Wood and the United States Army CBRN School have facilities, in which to conduct training, such as Chemical Defense Training Facility (or CDTF) where military students from across the globe train and become familiar with nerve agents in realistic scenarios, and conduct training with radiological isotopes and inert biological agents.
