After doing a a little research I spotted the Everlast welders and was considering something like the Power Tig DV or a Power tig 250 EX I'm just going to use it around the house to learn tig and for repairs. Not a production welder or a pipe fitter. I understand the Everlast is a Chinese product and I'm kinda worried about reliability.
I'd like to be able to do tig welding if possible, but I don't have a specific need for it. I looked at some of the Everlast rigs. After talking to them, they only sounded confidant in their $700+ units for quality. I opted to order a Hobart 210mvp. I only need mog and wanted the dual voltage input.
2. Minor issue but they positioned the gas inlet right in the center on the back of the machine. The hose and brass fittings bumped right into the gas tank with the front of the welder hanging off the front of the shelf. I had to move the top shelf of my cart forward almost 3 inches for clearance. 3.
While a heavier machine may be less portable, it may indicate more cooling capability. Sticking with a 200 amp machine (the 221 or the 210EXT) will save on the need for a water cooler. Going with the 250EX or 255EXT or another 250 amp machine will require a cooler to take advantage of that extra 50 amps.
In my experience, dollar for dollar Everlast is better than lincoln or miller. Better duty cycle, better controls, etc. Of course, blue and red have some wonderful production machines, but they cost more than anything Everlast makes also. Reply reply. HeightFinancial4549.
The multiprocess seems the way to go, seems to do everything the dedicated machine can do at a lower price, smaller package, essier to carry, ETC. I am confident in everlast machine, seens couple shop with it being use for couple years everyday wihtout issues. Thanks! Join the Metalworking discord!! laser has a short to no leaning curve to have "rockstar welds". -laser safety a big a legitimate concern. -laser setup is a longer, wire feeders etc. -tig are more versatile and can do more welds with. -tig are cheaper. -tig has a steep leaning curve. -tig is harder to weld thin metals.
I'm starting to look at Tig welders, and the Primeweld TIG225X AC/DC and Weldpro Digital 200amp TIG Welder are much cheaper (around CA1000$) compared to other companies models with the same features, say Everlast PowerTIG 210EXT (2500$) and Lincoln Electric Square Wave TIG200 (3000$). I'm all for paying more if it means quality and durability ...
