Your pool needs the pump to deliver a range of water flow rates through the pipes, filter, heater, and other equipment. As long as the pump can deliver the needed water flow range through the restrictions, called head, a large HP or small HP VS pump can work equally well. Hello fellow swimmers, I'm opening the pool this weekend (🇨🇦) and my pool pump (Hayward SuperPump 1.5 HP / 120V / 18.6 A max) began to trip the cabin breaker (well, the GFCI outlet dedicated to the pump) when the morning arrived and the temperature began to rise (now almost 30 c).
Just to give a little background. The pool builder is installing a 20x14 pool, 80"x80" hot tub, run all plumbing to and from pool/hot tub and tie into pump in the pump room, run wires for lighting from pool to pump room. I'm personally doing the feed from the main panel in house to sub panel in the pump room, which is completed.

Aug 27, 2019. #2. Technically, cavitation is air caught in your pump at the impeller. Air typically doesn't enter at the pump though. Air does however get caught in the pump, causing cavitation. It's noisy, thumpy. Before or after your pump, the air isn't exactly cavitation.
Many B&D products are made in China and imported by Blue Torrent Pool Products, which is owned by Island Recreational. The heat pump is made by a contract manufacturer for Blue Torrent. But that is the opposite of how the old motor was wired. To be clear, I am repl the same exact motor (just 11mos old) and the labels/wiring diagrams are exactly the same btwn them.
