Orange Line 12 (Extension), or the Kalyan-Dombivli-Taloja Line is a proposed line of Mumbai Metro. It will be an extension of Orange Line. The total length of the line is planned to be 22.17 kilometres (13.78 mi), and the route will be completely elevated. The total cost of construction is confirmed to be Rs 2037.20 crore. [1]
The line is being built in two phases. The first phase, from Thane to Bhiwandi, is currently under construction. The second phase, from Bhiwandi to Kalyan, is in the planning stage. Line 5 is expected to open in 2025. A proposed 20.75 km extension of Line 5, from Kalyan to Taloja, is part of Orange Line 12.
Kalyan Junction is an important stop for all the trains. Nagpur Duronto and Deccan Queen are the two trains that do not stop at Kalyan. Kalyan junction will get 6 new platforms under yard remodeling project. The land for this project is available in railway goods yard on eastern side of railway station.

The next section from Kasara to Igatpuri is 9.5 mi (15 km) across Thul Ghat and within that distance the line rises from 289 ft (88 m) to 1,918 ft (585 m) the gradient in the section being 1:37.
