PGN headers are allowed, for convenience, but ignored by the template, except when parameter display notation is set to "yes", in which case the tags will be shown as part of the notation. PGN is structured "for easy reading and writing by human users and for easy parsing and generation by computer programs." The chess moves themselves are given in algebraic chess notation using English initials for the pieces. The filename extension is .pgn. There are two formats in the PGN specification, the "import" format and the "export" format.
The above eight rules apply to a chart of a variable value. A second chart, the moving range chart, can also be used but only with rules 1, 2, 3 and 4. Such a chart plots a graph of the maximum value - minimum value of N adjacent points against the time sample of the range.
