Alliston is a settlement in Simcoe County in the Canadian province of Ontario. It has been part of the Town of New Tecumseth since the 1991 amalgamation of Alliston and nearby villages of Beeton, Tottenham, and the Township of Tecumseth. The primary downtown area is located along Highway 89, known as Victoria Street.
The principal urban centres along the highway include Alliston, Shelburne and Mount Forest. Outside these towns, the highway travels through rural farmland across a large part of southwestern Ontario. Highway 89 was established in 1937 as a result of the rerouting of Highway 9 between Orangeville and Highway 27.

These acts named the townships that the County would encompass and authorized the levying of taxes for the purpose of constructing a jail and court house.
The municipality was created in 1991 through the amalgamation of the Town of Alliston, the Villages of Beeton and Tottenham, and the Township of Tecumseth. The name 'New Tecumseth' was chosen because a Town of Tecumseh already existed in Essex County.

The route begins at a split between Cambrai Road, which provides access to Camp Borden, and Simcoe County Road 10, which continues south to Alliston and Tottenham. [5] The four lane Simcoe County Road 90 progresses north through the centre of Angus.

The idea for the park was spearheaded by Rowe when he was area MP and began with the first land purchase in 1957 and additional farm land before it opened in 1964, [3] the now 312.42 ha (772.0 acres) park was named for former Lieutenant Governor of Ontario William Earl Rowe. [4]
