The grist mill stood 800 yards downstream on Glenwood Ave. just east of I-20. It is cited in military annals recording the movements of Walker's and Bate's divisions of Hardee's corps to the Battle of Atlanta of July 22, 1864. His brother Thomas Terry operated a mill located at Lakewood Park, (future site of the Southeaster Fairgrounds).
