In 2000, Kennedy had her first professional role when she starred as Anne Shirley in the annual production of Anne of Green Gables at the Charlottetown Festival in Prince Edward Island. [4] She reprised her role in the 2001 production.
She was particularly known for her performances as Marilla in Anne of Green Gables, a role which she performed annually at the Charlottetown Festival for nearly 30 years, as well as in Canadian touring productions in 1970, 1973, 1980, and 1986.
