State Trunk Highway 70 (often called Highway 70, STH-70 or WIS 70) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Wisconsin.It runs east–west in northern Wisconsin from a shared terminus with WIS 101 at US Highway 2 (US 2) and US 141 near Florence to a connection with Minnesota State Highway 70 (MN 70) at the St. Croix River five miles (8.0 km) west of Grantsburg in Burnett County.
The route was first written into law in from La Crosse to Oshkosh. [9] The highway passed through Sparta, but through the south side of Tomah and New Lisbon before turning north to Necedah. After crossing the Wisconsin River, WIS 21 followed WIS 13 into Adams and Friendship. Both highways followed a different right-of-way at the time.

In 1924, the entire route was signed as a western extension of WIS 61. [4] In 1927, the highway, along with the rest of WIS 61, had been renumbered to WIS 14. [5] In 1934, when US 14 was designated within the state, the entire route was renumbered to WIS 81. [6] Between 1948 and 1956, the entire route within Grant County was paved.
