The Don CeSar is a hotel located in St. Pete Beach, Florida. Developed by Thomas Rowe and opened in 1928, it gained renown as the Gulf playground for America's pampered rich at the height of the Jazz Age .
Currently, nearly 80% of the St. Petersburg’s and Clearwater’s hotels are open, including popular flagship properties in Clearwater Beach. A few icons, like the Don Cesar Hotel, remain closed.
The town of St. Pete Beach was consolidated from the municipalities of Pass-a-Grille, Don CeSar Place, Belle Vista, and St. Petersburg Beach in a 1957 referendum, in which consolidation only won by a margin of 5 votes. [11] At the time of its incorporation in 1957, its name was St. Petersburg Beach.
