Belmont is a ghost town in Nye County, Nevada, United States along former State Route 82. [2] The town is a historic district listed in the National Register of Historic Places . It is Nevada Historical Marker number 138.
Nye County was established during the American Civil War in 1864 and named after James W. Nye, the first governor of the Nevada Territory and later a U.S. Senator after it was admitted as a state. The first county seat was Ione in 1864, followed by Belmont in 1867, and finally Tonopah in 1905.

[6] Nicknamed the Queen of the Silver Camps for its mining-rich history, [1] it is now primarily a tourism-based resort city, notable for attractions like the Mizpah Hotel and the Clown Motel.
The southern terminus of State Route 376 is located about 5 miles (8.0 km) east of Tonopah on US 6 in western Nye County. From there, the highway heads north through the Ralston Valley for about 13 miles (21 km). The route then curves westward around some mountains to enter the southern end of the Big Smoky Valley.

Belmont Courthouse is in the Toquima Range of Nye County. It is located in the ghost town of Belmont, 45 miles (72 km) northeast of Tonopah, Nevada. The partially restored courthouse, which is open to the public, was built in 1876. Most of the restoration was completed by Brett Perchetti. It was the seat of Nye County government until 1905.
