The University of Rajasthan, informally known as Rajasthan University (RU, ISO: Rājasthān Viśvavidyālaya), is a public state university located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. It was founded in 1947 by an Act of the State Legislative Assembly and is recognised as a prominent institution in the region.
Rajasthan has over 50 private, state and central government Universities which makes it one of the leading states in Indian higher education system. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council [1] [2] is leading system of quality system for higher educational institutions established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development under University Grants Commission (India). The University of Rajasthan was established by an act of legislature on 8 January 1947. The library was created later on, after the availability of a small annex in the same compound in 1949. A budget provision of 20,000 Rs. was made for the library and about 1,500 books were immediately acquired.
