Black Hawk County is a county in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census , the population was 131,144, [ 1 ] making it Iowa's fifth-most populous county. The county seat is Waterloo .

Shady Grove in west-central Buchanan County, Iowa, in 1903. Shady Grove was founded in 1857 at the western edge of Jefferson Township, near the Buchanan-Black Hawk county line. Shady Grove was close to another community named Sunnyside. In 1886, a post office opened under the name Shady Grove.
Black Hawk Township covers an area of 31.37 square miles (81.2 km 2) and contains one incorporated settlement, Hudson. According to the USGS , it contains three cemeteries: Cedar Valley, Hudson and Zion Lutheran.
