It became one of the three founders of Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) and became one of its three holding companies from 1951, with a 28% stake and listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. DNL was renamed SAS Norge ASA in 1996 and was merged in 2001 to create the SAS Group. The company was founded as Det Norske Luftfartselskap Fred.
The aircraft were transferred to SAS with the 1993 takeover, where they continued to fly on the Swedish domestic network, largely on ex-Linjeflyg routes. Some were converted to a 75-seat European version and used on services such as Gothenburg – Paris and Eurolink services out of Copenhagen .

SAS Braathens was the name of Norway's largest airline, created by a merger between Scandinavian Airlines' Norwegian division and Braathens in 2004. On 1 June 2007, the airline was integrated into mainline SAS, and changed its name to SAS Scandinavian Airlines Norge. [1]
SAS Norge, the Norwegian affiliate of SAS, protested, arguing that the extent of the fare reduction was exaggerated (claiming 18.4% rather than 30%) and was due to more efficient spending, not the ban on EuroBonus.
