The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (also known as the Los Angeles Coliseum or L.A. Coliseum) is a multi-purpose stadium in the Exposition Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, United States. Conceived as a hallmark of civic pride, the Coliseum was commissioned in 1921 as a memorial to Los Angeles veterans of World War I .
The stadium opened as Municipal Stadium in 1988, funded partially by the City of Daytona Beach (from the sale of another stadium) and a donation from Daytona International Speedway, [2] located about 3 miles (4.8 km) to the east. In 1994, the playing field was named after Larry Kelly, who served as mayor of Daytona Beach from 1974 to 1993. [6]
