Tempe Butte (O'odham: ʼOidbaḍ Doʼag) is the official name of an andesite butte of volcanic origin, located partially on Arizona State University's Tempe campus in Tempe, Arizona. It is often referred to by locals as A Mountain , after the 60-foot-tall (18 m) gold-painted letter 'A' near the top.
Tempe is generally flat, except for Tempe Butte or Hayden Butte (generally known as A-Mountain for Arizona State University's "A" logo located on its south face), located next to Sun Devil Stadium, Twin Buttes and Bell Butte on the western edge of Tempe, and the buttes within Papago Park at northwest corner of Tempe.
The Tempe Beach Stadium – The baseball field was built in 1927, and the cobblestone wall which was built around the park in 1934. The Tempe Beach Stadium is located in the corner of 1st St. and Ash Ave. The property was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on January 7, 1985.
Temple Butte, in the Grand Canyon, Arizona, US is a prominence below the East Rim. The butte lies on the west bank of the south-flowing Colorado River. The outfall from the Little Colorado River, draining from the Painted Desert to the east and southeast, is about two miles upstream. Temple Butte is 5,308 feet (1,618 m) in elevation.
Papago Park is a hilly desert park covering 1200 acres in its Phoenix extent and 296 acres in its Tempe extent. Tempe refers to its section of the park specifically as Tempe Papago Park.
