Kapaʻa (Kauaʻi dialect: Tapaʻa), also spelled Kapaa, is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Kauaʻi County, Hawaiʻi, United States. It is the most populous town in the island of Kauai , with a population of 11,652 as of the 2020 census, [ 2 ] up from 9,471 at the 2000 census.
The Royal Coconut Coast includes the sacred Wailua River area and the large towns of Wailua and Kapaa. The area's name derives from the acres of coconut trees along the coast and highway. It also has many places of historical and cultural significance. Some of the land is held as sacred and was once reserved for the royalty of Hawaii.
