Lumberton is a city in Hardin County, Texas, United States. The population was 13,554 at the 2020 census, [ 4 ] up from 11,943 at the 2010 census. Lumberton is the home of Village Creek State Park .

The high school is now home of the Lumberton Middle School, located on US Highway 96. The new high school, which opened in the fall of 1979, is located on Highway 69 on the west side of Lumberton. Located in the front of the school is a tree planted in memoriam of five students who died in a car crash in May 1998.
The stadium, named for the game it hosts, was opened 62 years ago in 1963 with a Texas Western win over North Texas State on September 21. The opening play was a 54-yard touchdown run by Larry Durham of the Miners.
