I feel like Dynasty Warriors 4 offers the best experience but most people gravitate toward 3 and 5 the most I feel like. All three of them are fantastic games and the only real weak links in the chain so to speak would be 7 and 9 for me, but at least 7 nails the story of the Three Kingdoms.
