The Cummins are a great motor wrapped in a mediocre ram pickup truck. Frankly I'd hope a 2016 has been reliable, he'll my 2004 hummer H2 (chevy motor and transmission) has been reliable despite having 165k miles and being in two car accidents, being used to tow my horse trailer and used as an offroad toy and all the normal shit life has thrown ...

A ford with the 7.3 is in the same vein, but the rest of the truck is horribly aged. And you're going to spend well over $20k for a good example with low mileage. 5.9L Dodges up to 07 are good, but loud, crappy interiors, and the rest of the truck other than the motor is pretty weak. For that money, you can buy a really nice big block gasser.

Not a real truck but 2009 to 2014 honda ridgeline. Build solid and keep driving with regular maintenance. Better handling with the unibody too. Lots cheaper than 35k too. We bought ours with 230k on it. Currently at 370k only changed and engine fan and needed control arms 10k ago. For a real truck I would only go with a 2014 to 2021 tundra.

I can rebuild a Chevy 90s and early 2000 truck for 1/4 of what a new truck costs and refresh a Chevy truck (skipping major repairs but replacing a lot of stuff) under 5k, making it near new again aside from mileage. Cosmetic, brakes, cooling and electrical, external engine parts and external transmission parts (lines, sensors and switches).

The 4.9L 300 inline 6 by Ford is renowned to be one of the most reliable engines ever built. It had a run of about 30 years ending in I believe 96, the engine was used in trucks, towing rigs, generators, farm equipment tractors, and more.

All the 5 brands are similarly reliable and capable these days, with slight differences I’ll describe. F150: The 2.7 is fuel efficient, the 3.5 is the best tow motor in the segment, and the 5.0 is reliable. Ram: The 5.7 Hemi is the definition of fine: average power, reliability, capability, capacity, mpg. The EcoDiesel has been plagued with ...

I have a 2017 Silverado Z71 1500. Looking for new pickup truck with similar options (auto 4wd, locking diff). I need a 6.5' box with a crew cab (4 big doors). I'm only concerned about reliability after that. Can't find any hard data on which is most reliable these days.

The most reliable new trucks are Toyota and RAM. Those don't offer a Supercab/Crew Cab and an 8' bed. So I would look at an F150XL Supercab/8' bed 4x2 which is around $35K for the base model. The dog can go in the back, and your baby can go in a child seat in the middle front. If you can live with the short bed get a Toyota Tundra.

The Ridgeline is, by far and away, the most useful, practical, and economical pickup. Will tow more than 99% of people will ever need. Will haul more stuff than most need. Blows away the competition in ride quality and economy. It’s honestly the best truck for sale, and if I needed a truck it’s my first stop. Don’t be fooled by the Tacoma.

I’ve got a 2013 Silverado LT 1500 w/5.3. 170,000 miles with a lot of towing in the 5,000 lb range. Knock on wood, the only problem I’ve had with the truck is the power passenger window motor crapped out. Prior to the Silverado, I had 3 Ford truck but this 2013 has made me a Chevy guy.
