The first hour-long series, produced independently by Pidgeon and Scott, opened with Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms in May 1989, followed by The Rolling Stones' Beggars Banquet, Genesis' Invisible Touch, Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, The Who's Who's Next, Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, The Police's Synchronicity, Eagles' Hotel California and U2's The Joshua Tree.
The album was reasonably successful, peaking at No. 9 in the UK Albums Chart making it their most successful UK studio album since Fire and Water (1970). The single release "Little Bit of Love" reached No. 13; despite failing to enter the top ten it was their third best selling single release at the time (it would be beaten by "Wishing Well" the following year).
Both singles released charted at No. 47 in the 1981 charts. In 1982, they signed with Columbia Records and released two more albums: Enchanted Lady (1982) and Utopia (1984). By the end of the 1980s, the rise of funk and rap put a virtual end to ballad groups. All three albums barely dented the charts. [2]
