The Right Reverend John Franklin Meldon Hine (26 July 1938 – 16 November 2024) was a British Roman Catholic bishop. He was an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Southwark from February 2001 until his retirement in May 2016, and held the titular see of Beverley.

When Pope Pius restored the English Roman Catholic hierarchy, St George's was chosen as the cathedral church of the new Roman Catholic Diocese of Southwark, which was to cover the whole of southern England. For the next half-century, until the opening of Westminster Cathedral, St George's was the centre of Roman Catholic life in London.
Southwark's Catholic cathedral was destroyed by in a 1941 bombing raid and so one of his immediate pastoral priorities was to re-contruct the cathedral. [4] He attended all the session of the Second Vatican Council. On 28 May 1965, aged 60, he was appointed as the first metropolitan Archbishop of Southwark by Pope Paul VI.
On 28 December 2005 Lynch was appointed auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Southwark and titular bishop of Castrum. [1] He was ordained a bishop on 14 February 2006. The principal consecrator was the archdiocese's ordinary of that time, Archbishop Kevin McDonald; his principal co-consecrators were Auxiliary Bishop John Hine and McDonald's predecessor, Archbishop Michael Bow
