Ridgewood Summit is a low mountain pass in Mendocino County, California, traversed by U.S. Route 101 at an altitude of 1,956 feet (596 m). Hopland (formerly Sanel) [5] is a census-designated place [4] in Mendocino County, California, United States. [2] It is located on the west bank of the Russian River , 13 miles (21 km) south-southeast of Ukiah , [ 5 ] in the Sanel Valley , at an elevation of 502 feet (153 m). [ 2 ]
From there the Russian River flows south, past Ukiah through the Ukiah Valley and Hopland through the Sanel Valley, and crosses into Sonoma County just north of Cloverdale. Closely paralleled by U.S. Route 101, it descends into the Alexander Valley, where it is joined by Big Sulphur Creek. It flows south past Cloverdale, Asti, and Geyserville.
