The Coral are an English rock band, formed in 1996 in Hoylake on the Wirral Peninsula, Merseyside. [1] The band emerged during the early 2000s. [ 2 ] Their 2002 debut album The Coral , from which came the single " Dreaming of You ", was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize [ 3 ] and listed as the fourth best album of the year by NME . [ 4 ]

The Coral is the debut studio album by British rock band the Coral. It was released on 29 July 2002, through the Deltasonic record label. After finalising their line-up, the band had a residency at The Cavern Club , and were spotted and signed by Alan Willis of Deltasonic soon afterwards.
The majority of The Coral songs are written by lead singer and rhythm guitarist James Skelly, with many songs also being co-written by keyboardist Nick Power. Lead guitarist Lee Southall has written some of their songs, whilst all members of the group have co-written at several points and the band has also written together in collaboration.
