In 1912 after passing through a number of owners the Ellsinore Hotel burned, and a new structure, the Seats Hotel, was built on the lot in 1913. In 1913/14 the Ellsinore High School was accredited by the State Department of Education. In 1918 “The Ellsinore News” began publication. Its name was later changed to “The Carter County News.”

Crites Corner is an unincorporated community in Carter County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1] The community is located on U.S. Route 60, west of Ellsinore. [2] Crites Corner was named after Donald Crites, a local merchant. [3]

The first Lodge in Missouri was created by residents of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.The charter was issued on November 14, 1807 on a warrant from the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania for the Louisiana Lodge No. 109, to be held in St. Genevieve, Territory of Louisiana with the following officers: Aaron Elliott, Master; Andrew Henry, Senior Warden; and George Bullitt, Junior Warden.
