The Farewell Pilgrimage (Arabic: حِجَّة ٱلْوَدَاع, romanized: Ḥijjat al-Wadāʿ) refers to the one Hajj pilgrimage that Muhammad performed in the Islamic year 10 AH, following the Conquest of Mecca. Muslims believe that verse 22:27 of the Quran brought about the intent to perform Hajj in Muhammad that year.
Engaged in Hadith studies and driven by a desire to serve the Hadith, Zakariyya Kandhlawi authored this book on the Farewell Pilgrimage at the age of 27. The original book was completed within one day and one night, followed by the addition of annotations, explanations, and valuable information based on the author's personal experiences.
The hadith recorded from him in Sahih Muslim states: 'Imran b. Husain said there was revealed the verse of Tamattu' in Hajj in the Book of Allah and the Messenger of Allah commanded us to perform it. and then no verse was revealed abrogating the Tamattu' (form of Hajj), and the Messenger of God did not forbid to do it till he died.
When arranging a pilgrimage, the participant is asked to declare their objective before the outset of the journey. If the pilgrimage begins with only the intention of it being a minor one and the pilgrim decides after starting it that it will be a major one, they need to go a certain distance away from Mecca, and then start a new pilgrimage, intending to do the greater one.
