Association Sportive de Monaco Football Club, commonly referred to as AS Monaco [2] (French pronunciation: [ɑ.ɛs mɔnako]), is a professional football club based in Fontvieille, Monaco. Although not in France, they are a member of the French Football Federation (FFF) and currently compete in Ligue 1 , the top tier of French football .
Monaco started the season under the management of Didier Deschamps, but after a poor start and disagreement with the club's President, Michel Pastor, Deschamps resigned from the club on 19 September 2005. [1] Jean Petit was appointed as coach follow Deschamps' departure with Francesco Guidolin taking over from him in October.
The 2017–18 season was AS Monaco FC's fifth consecutive season in Ligue 1 since promotion from Ligue 2 in 2013. They were the defending Ligue 1 champions and also took part in the Coupe de France , the Coupe de la Ligue , the Trophée des Champions and the UEFA Champions League .
In March 2007, Hook and Potts performed Monaco songs together at the Hard Rock Cafe in Manchester under the name "Hooky & Pottsy". [10] Original Monaco drummer Paul Kehoe also played along with Hook's son Jack. In October 2007, the same line up performed again as Monaco at the Ritz in Manchester which raised money for Oxfam. The 2006–07 season was AS Monaco FC's 50th season in Ligue 1. They finished Ninth in Ligue 1, and were knocked out of the Coupe de la Ligue by Stade Reims , at the Round of 16, and the Coupe de France by Sochaux also at the Round of 16.
