In 1848, the railroad built the Starrucca Viaduct, a stone railroad bridge over Starrucca Creek in Lanesboro, Pennsylvania, which has survived and is still in use today. In fact, current owner Central New York Railroad spent $3.2 million in 2021 centering its single remaining track, re- ballasting and repairing masonry.

Julius Walker Adams (October 18, 1812 – December 13, 1899) was an American civil engineer and railroad engineer, who designed the Starrucca Viaduct. He co-founded the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1852 and served as its president from 1874 to 1875. [1]
