Wylie is a city and northeastern suburb of Dallas, that was once solely located in Collin County, but now extends into neighboring Dallas and Rockwall counties in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located on State Route 78 about 24 miles (39 km) northeast of central Dallas and centrally located between nearby Lavon Lake and Lake Ray Hubbard .
Lake Wylie is located on a peninsula along the shore of Lake Wylie in the Piedmont of both North and South Carolina, at (35.105973, -81.056978 According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.7 square miles (12 km 2), of which 3.5 square miles (9.1 km 2) is land and 1.3 square miles (3.4 km 2) (26.58%) is water.
The Wylie community is served by the Wylie Independent School District (ISD). The fast-growing district also serves other portions of south Abilene, the unincorporated communities of Potosi, Caps, and View, and other predominantly rural areas of east central Taylor County. All of WISD's campuses are located within the Abilene city limits.
Lake Wylie is a reservoir or man-made lake in the U.S. states of South Carolina and North Carolina. The lake has a surface area of 13,400 acres (54 km 2 ) [ 2 ] 20.9 square miles (54 km 2 ) and features 325 miles (523 km) [ 3 ] of shoreline.
By 1964, a total of 466 students were enrolled in the district. As Abilene grew and annexed land from Wylie into its school district, Wylie residents voted to become an independent school district in 1968. [5] Butterfield School, located between the communities of Caps and View, consolidated with Wylie ISD in 1978. [7]

Wylie High School (commonly Wylie High School or WHS) is a public high school located in Wylie, Texas (United States) and classified as a 6A school by the UIL.It is part of the Wylie Independent School District which covers south central Collin County and includes portions of the communities of Sachse, St. Paul and Murphy along with Wylie.
