ZCSD (ZCSD), or Zachary Community School Board is a school district in Zachary, Louisiana, United States. In addition to Zachary it serves some unincorporated areas around it. [4] The Zachary Community School System was founded in 2002 and was formed from schools that had been located in the East Baton Rouge Parish School District. [5]
In 2007, the board appointed Paul Pastorek, a former BESE member, as the Louisiana state education superintendent upon the death of Cecil J. Picard. Pastorek resigned as superintendent in 2011. [2] In 2012, eight of the eleven members were required to confirm Governor Bobby Jindal's appointment of John C. White as superintendent.
A survey by AARP in 2010 states that "29% of the U.S. adult population, or 65.7 million people, are caregivers, including 31% of all households. These caregivers provide an average of 20 hours of care per week." [7] 1.4 million children ages 8 to 18 provide care for an adult relative; 72% are caring for a parent or grandparent.
Three teachers at the school were named Louisiana Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Cathy Raziano, who was selected as Louisiana's 2003-2004 Teacher of the Year, Dr. Carol Price, a math teacher, was honored as 2007-2008 Teacher of the Year, and Mrs. Britni Matthews, an English honors teacher who was honored as Louisiana's 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year.
