Gold rush (Taylor’s version) - we know gold is true love (see Daylight) and so this symbolizes everyone in the pursing of the same exciting goal - getting the love of the unidentified hottie. In both cases, there are a ton of people in pursuit of gold. Same interpretation as you!

Gleaming, twinkling. Eyes like sinking ships on waters. So inviting, I almost jump in. This is very similar to the second pre-chorus of “Gorgeous”. Ocean blue eyes looking in mine. I feel like I might sink and drown and die. Chorus. But I don't like a gold rush, gold rush. I don't like anticipatin' my face in a red flush.
Taylor doesn’t like a Gold Rush because being with this person would be overwhelming because she feels jealously over everyone wanting this beautiful person’s affection. Taylor said this song is about snapping out of a day dream. The lyrics do it by the end. She chooses NOT to pursue this person she likes by the end by choice.
The Archer, Daylight, This Love feel more etheral. Don't You, Enchanted, This Love, Daylight for ethereal sounding songs. Easier Said, Slow Burn by Kacey Musgraves. GOLDWING by Billie Eilish. Epiphany, mirrorball. It doesn't really sound like 'gold rush', but I feel like you would like this, it's in indie folk style, also kinda cosmic/ethereal ...
In Dress, Taylor sings “you made your mark on me, a golden tattoo” Gold Rush would be a continuation of this gold imagery to describe Kloss. Also, Cornelia Street is also thought to be about Karlie Kloss. The lyrics say “Baby, I get mystified how this city screams your name”. In Gold Rush she sings, “Everybody wants you”.
Such a brilliant song. “I don’t like that falling feels like flying til the bone crush” is one of my favorite Taylor lyrics. Part of me is a bit annoyed, like, dang, you wrote these beautiful and amazing lyrics, Taylor, and your listeners can't hear them (a problem I have with multiple songs on folklore and evermore honestly)! But overall, like I said, I love gold rush so much more now that I know the lyrics, and I'm still getting over how good it is.
A gold rush refers to the gold rush of the mid-19th century, where many settlers moved to California to mine gold. In this case, Taylor uses a gold rush as a metaphor for this person who the narrator of the song believes is very good-looking, but, like settlers rushing to get gold, there are many other suitors rushing for this person’s attention.
Discussion. In self defense, I'll say that I have hardly listened to her since before Red, but I listened to Fearless (Taylor's version) and every song was muscle memory and 6th grade nostalgia. So I listened to evermore, and there's quite a few bangers but gold rush gave me VISIONS. Breathtaking, exquisite, "What must it be like to grow up ...
