Bradford is located on U.S. Route 219, just south of its junction with Interstate 86 north of the New York border. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.5 square miles (9.1 km 2), all land. Bradford is situated in a valley in the Allegheny Mountains and is surrounded by woods and steep hills.
As of the census [5] of 2000, there were 1,645 people, 651 households, and 471 families residing in the township. The population density was 45.0 inhabitants per square mile (17.4/km 2). There were 702 housing units at an average density of 19.2/sq mi (7.4/km 2).

[12] As of the 2010 U.S. Census [ 13 ] the micropolitan area ranked 8th most populous in the State of Pennsylvania and the 131st most populous in the United States with a population of 62,622.
