Amber Augusta Rudd (born 1 August 1963) [2] is a British former politician who served as Home Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions from 2018 to 2019. She was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Hastings and Rye , first elected in 2010 , representing the Conservative Party , and stood down from parliament in 2019 .

Amber Rudd was the final secretary of state at DECC, until she became Home Secretary. The post was formed into the new Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy by new prime minister Theresa May in July 2016. The role is now part of the portfolio belonging to the secretary of state for energy security and net zero.
