In 1955, due to the improvement of the name in accordance with Indonesian rules, the federation was renamed Persatuan Bola Basket Seluruh Indonesia (PERBASI). Perbasi was later accepted as a member of FIBA in 1953, and a year later, for the first time Indonesia sent a team to compete in the 1954 Asian Games in Manila. [citation needed]
