PressureNET was a crowd-sourced reporting network for barometric pressure data. It worked by having many users install it on cell phones having air pressure sensors (barometers) and GPS sensors. Once the location was known from the GPS data, it was able to send messages back to the server with the air pressure for that location on Earth.
Highest air pressure ever recorded [above 750 meters (2,461 feet)]: 1084.8 hPa (32.03 inHg); Tosontsengel, Zavkhan, Mongolia, 19 December 2001. [331] This is the equivalent sea-level pressure ; Tosontsengel is located at 1,300 metres (4,300 ft) above sea level.
i X is a code number indicating the manner of station operation, and the format used in group 7wwWW; codes 1, 2 and 3 indicate a manned station, while codes 4 to 7 indicate an automatic station. h indicates the height above the surface for the base of the lowest cloud seen: 0 means from 0 to 100 feet or 0 to 50 meters, 9 means the base of ...
SLP176 indicates the current barometric pressure extrapolated to sea level is 1,017.6 hPa (30.05 inHg). P0002 indicates that 0.02 inches (0.5 mm) of liquid-equivalent precipitation accumulated during the last hour. T10171017 is a breakdown of the temperature and dew point in eight digits separated into two groups of four. The first four digits ...
Personal weather stations have become more advanced and can include many different sensors to measure weather conditions. These sensors can vary between models but most measure wind speed, wind direction, outdoor and indoor temperatures, outdoor and indoor humidity, barometric pressure, rainfall, and UV or solar radiation.
The stations measure wind speed, direction, and gust; barometric pressure; and air temperature. In addition, all buoy and some C-MAN stations measure sea surface temperature, and wave height and period. [44] Conductivity and water current are measured at selected stations. All stations report on an hourly basis.
Hurricane warnings were issued for the Big Bend area of Florida, with nearly all of Florida, except the westernmost part of the Florida panhandle, put under a tropical storm warning. [3] In addition, on the evening of September 26, an extreme wind warning was issued for the east part of the Florida Panhandle, [4] [5] the first since Hurricane ...
Atmospheric pressure, also known as air pressure or barometric pressure (after the barometer), is the pressure within the atmosphere of Earth. The standard atmosphere (symbol: atm) is a unit of pressure defined as 101,325 Pa (1,013.25 hPa ), which is equivalent to 1,013.25 millibars , [ 1 ] 760 mm Hg , 29.9212 inches Hg , or 14.696 psi .
