Since Windows 11 is now using Video Editor for their software rather than the old Movie Maker Software that was available back in the day to make slide shows, the new app has taken away the transitions function that used to be on Movie Maker slideshow software but is no longer available on the current Video Editor software preinstalled with Win 11.

Anyone have a solution to WMM 6.0 working properly on Windows 10. Once you have about 15 minutes or so on the timeline the process slows and continually says "not Responding". I spent many hours putting together sections of .avi clips into a movie using Windows Movie Maker and all was well. Since downloading Windows 10 I cannot get Movie Maker to read .avi files or play what I have already done. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Unfortunately, Microsoft dropped support for that suite of programs last year (read Movie Maker went away on January 10, 2017) In the Fall Creators Update to Windows 10, Microsoft added features to the Photos App allowing you to add photos and video to make a movie. That feature is found under the Create menu.
If you are still interested in using a "classic" version of Movie Maker, I would suggest using Windows Movie Maker 6.0 instead of the older CPU-only WMM 2.6. It has the same traditional timeline as 2.6 so you should have no problems using it but it is designed to use your GPU and takes advantage of 64-bit CPUs.
To resolve the issue with Windows Movie Maker, I suggest you to repair Windows Movie Maker and check if it helps. Right-click on Start button and open Control Panel. Under Programs and features, click Uninstall a Program. Locate Windows Live Essential then click Uninstall/Change. When a Window appears, select Repair all Windows Live programs.
After upgrading to windows 10 I couldn't use Movie Maker anymore, so this tip worked for me just fine.. Try this: Search for MovieMaker.exe on your system,[on my system I found it at ...windows live/Photo Galery... then right click on it and check compatibility...let windows 10 to do the rest. I hope this will help.....
