This might be a little late and I just encountered this and tried end task and run as admin unity hub. Doesn't work. What worked for me was went home and used my own internet and everything worked perfectly fine so yeah, maybe we have the same scenario, because of the network.
That said it doesn't really matter though, because you can install Unity manually and then later tell Unity Hub where the installs are on your system. Another nice, often overlooked feature IMO: You can use Hub to open a project directly to the target platform you want, even if it hasn't been imported yet.
Not with Unity Hub but I've absolutely gone into autopilot mode on a new system and just installed anything off the top of my head that I know I'll need. That said, if you had Unity installed or something, there may be a chance it restored the Hub since that's where you end up even opening Unity itself up.
Unity partnered with a mobile monetization platform. Is the engine safe to use? Have there been any issues since this merger? No, still has the same old issues it had before the merger. Having the "add Unity version" button REMOVE files from the system is not intuitive. It's far more likely that a careless user accidentally checks an "also, delete all my old versions" checkbox, than them accidentally clicking the "remove Unity version" button multiple times in another view. I'd say the extra couple clicks are worth the safety.
In Unity Hub, go to preferences -> installs. Make note of the "Downloads location" Outside of the Unity Hub, open a File Explorer, and navigate to the specified "Downloads location" If you haven't already, try to install an editor in the Hub (this will fail)
