AD 500), commonly known as Priscian (/ ˈ p r ɪ ʃ ən / or / ˈ p r ɪ ʃ i ən /), was a Latin grammarian and the author of the Institutes of Grammar, which was the standard textbook for the study of Latin during the Middle Ages.
Latin is a pro-drop language; that is, pronouns in the subject are usually omitted except for emphasis, so for example amās by itself means "you love" without the need to add the pronoun tū "you".
